DESCRIPTION

Stop motion is an image-by-image editing technique that can be used to make animated films. Thanks to new digital tools, this artistic practice is now within everyone’s grasp.

During the workshop, participants from a young age are invited to discover the principles of stop motion films, both by means of hands-on activities and discovering existing films. The workshop can be organised in different ways, either beginning with writing a scenario and studying different approaches to the storyboard, or by getting straight down to the visual work and using objects, thereby providing a different approach to the learning process.

Thanks to the workshop, each participant will be able to imagine their own story and create an ensemble of different elements that are needed to make it into a film. Next the images are captured and edited to create the animation. Participants will receive an introduction to the use of various photographic and digital tools.

Each participant can use the different recording devices available at the Lavoir Numérique (camera and/or tablet) and will consider such questions as lighting and how the different elements are arranged according to their creative inspiration.

Sound is also addressed as part of the stop motion workshop. Sounds can be added to an animation, but they can also be its starting point.

This workshop is organised in different formats, either a single session or as a module made up of several sessions. Courses for advanced creatives are also available.
