The sound curriculum organised by Gentilly Conservatory and the Lavoir Numérique is something completely new in Gentilly and a complete course in its own right.

1/ AN INTRODUCTION TO SOUND

with Sanam GHARACHEHDAGHI, who teaches preschool music classes at the conservatory.

OBJECTIVES

Work on the way sound is perceived and develop awareness of the elements that constitute it (rhythm, pitch, interval, dynamic range and tone).

Develop the ability to listen, from listening to oneself to listening to the world all around.

Use digital tools to discover how sounds interact.

A presentation of traditional, electric and digital musical instruments.

Develop awareness of the repertory and practices of both European and world music.

WHO’S IT FOR?

6-year-olds.

Every Wednesday (excluding school holidays) from 15 September 2021.

3 pm at the Lavoir Numérique.

2/ AUDIO PRODUCTION

with Florent Passamonti – professor of computer music at the conservatory.

OBJECTIVES

Discover sequencer software programmes (DAW): Logic, Pro Tools, Reaper.

Learn about home recording using a computer and a sound card.

An introduction to audio editing and mixing.

Create loops and use them in compositions.

Use MIDI controllers and instruments.

YouTube / Vlogging: the basics of video editing using Final Cut Pro. Advice on what equipment to buy and how to launch your own channel.

WHO’S IT FOR?

From 13 years old.

3/ SOUND ARTS

with Guillaume Loizillon – Lecturer at Paris 8 University and a professor at the conservatory.

The classes that make up the sound arts course are aimed at adult students participating in creative, sound arts projects that require the use of digital audio equipment and a recording studio. More than just providing an opportunity to learn about the different forms of electronic and electroacoustic music, the workshops are also open to projects that combine such aspects as sound installation, performance art, the relationship between images and sounds, video games, online creations and improvisation etc.

WHO’S IT FOR?

Adult musicians, photographers, visual artists and performers with an interest in the sound arts.
